Another great training session

Training in Yerba Linda, CA

Training in Yorba Linda, CA

Great Training! Maggie and I train together weekly, but every month we drive to Orange County California to train with a pro. We invest all this time and money in continuing training to ensure we provide our customers with the best service possible.

We had another great training session this week in Yorba Linda, CA.  Our trainer Andy set up a very realistic scenario in a church that, because of the way the church is set up, resembled a large movie theater.  The dog teams included Bed Bug detection teams, a narcotics detection team, and an explosives detection team.  We all split up into teams and searched our assigned area of the building to find our target odors.  All of the teams did really well, and I felt like everyone came away having learned something important.  It was alot of fun as well as a great opportunity for training.  Thank you Friends Church for allowing us to use your building for training, and thank you Andy for a great training session!

By the way, if you have an interest in K9 Detection work, Andy has a new book coming out about testifying in court.  It’s going to be a great resource for any detection dog handler.

  • Nice! Speaking from experience, you gotta train with the best to be the best!
David Latimer and WDDO are top notch when it comes to training standards and the certification test, implimenting the double-blind hide method.
Outside of that, if I know that if ever need help or have questions, I can always contact David Latimer or Jim Latimer at FSI. They genuinely care about their customers and the K9 scent detection industry as a whole.

  • Thank you for your comment. We were actually training with Andy from Falco K9 Academy on the day I wrote about. Andy and David are both great trainers who put great dogs into the field.
